Original press release published, here. June 11, 2020 – Q.Digital – the leading LGBTQ digital media company – announced that it is partnering with Global Pride, organized by an international network of local pride organizations, on its 24-hour virtual Pride event that features a who’s who of international leaders and entertainers. Global Pride was formed in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced the cancellation or postponement of hundreds of pride marches. Millions of LGBTQ people and their allies celebrate pride season not just to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City, but to come out, to organize, network, and socialize in an environment where they can be themselves, sometimes for the only time during the year. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first celebrations in 1970. Q.Digital will provide marketing and advertising support for the mega-event and will provide run-up editorial coverage for the event, including an event guide on GayCities along with articles about performers and speakers on LGBTQ Nation and Queerty. The 24-hour virtual event will feature speeches from world leaders such as Carlos Alvarado Quesada, President of Costa Rica – which in early June legalized marriage equality – Prime Ministers of Norway Erna Solberg and Luxembourg Xavier Bettel, and Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil of India. Artists including Pabllo Vittar, Ava Max, Olivia Newton John, Deborah Cox, Kristine W, Thelma Houston, Bright Light Bright Light, Courtney Act, Steve Grand and Rachel Sage. (More speakers and performers will be announced leading up to the event.) “We’re proud to work with Global Pride this year to help bring so many LGBTQ people together online during a difficult time when many in our community are feeling especially isolated,” said Scott Gatz, CEO of Q.Digital. “We are dedicating our editorial platforms to covering pride season, the 50th anniversary of the first pride march, and we find ourselves again pushing back against bigotry, demanding action on racial and queer injustices, injustices which often overlap. The parallels between the early gay rights protests, often led by people of color who fought back against police brutality, and the events in Minneapolis and across the globe half a century later are remarkable.” Added Cathy Renna, communications consultant for InterPride: “Q.Digital is the ideal partner for Global Pride as we create a first-ever, historic, global virtual Pride. At a time when our world faces a global pandemic, economic uncertainty, and an international uprising against racial injustice, this partnership will help us reach a large and diverse audience with a message of action, solidarity, and hope.”
